Supporting You - Grants

Our Grants Programme

Since its formation the National Churches Trust has supported important projects at a wide range of places of worship through its grants programmes. We consider applications from listed and unlisted Christian places of worship throughout the UK.

Repair Grants
The Trust is offering the opportunity to apply for a limited number of grants towards urgent structural repair projects. In 2012 the Trust will concentrate on projects involving urgent repairs to roof and rainwater goods with estimated costs of at least £50,000 (including VAT and fees). Please read the National Churches Trust Grant Guidance Notes in full.

Community Grants
We hope to be able to provide grants towards installing facilities such as toilets and catering facilities to benefit your place of worship and local community. Please note that heating and lighting projects will not qualify.
Please read the National Churches Trust Grant Guidance Notes in full.

Should you have any queries, please check the guidance notes and take a look at the FAQ page for a list of commonly asked questions and answers. If you cannot find an answer to your question, you can email us at grants@nationalchurchestrust.org or call us on 020 7600 6090.

If you are planning a project and your place of worship is sited in England we would also advise you to contact your local County Churches Trust. Visit the In Your Area section to find out how to contact them to see if your project is eligible for their support. If your building is in Scotland please contact the Scottish Churches Architectural Heritage Trust.

Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN)

WREN awards grants from the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) for community, conservation and heritage projects in England, Scotland and Wales. Grade I or II* places of worship in England may qualify for grants for structural repair projects. Buildings must be within a 10 mile radius of a Waste Recycling Group (WRG) landfill site. The estimated cost of the repairs must be at least £50,000. The National Churches Trust makes recommendations to WREN for church restoration projects in England.  Grants are then decided and awarded by WREN once a year. We are looking for projects to be considered in 2012. Please see the National Churches Trust Grant Guidance Notes for details. For information about the WREN Heritage Fund in Scotland and Wales, please visit their website here and for more general information about WREN and the other grants that they offer please visit their website.
