Churches are good for our health

Our new House of Good: Health research shows that churches in the UK are providing essential services that would relieve the NHS of costs of £8.4 billion every year. But church buildings are dangerously underfunded, with many falling into disrepair and facing closure.

Every Church Counts – our plan to save churches

The UK has some of the most historic and beautiful churches, chapels and meeting houses to be found anywhere in the world. But many are at risk of closing for good if urgent action is not taken. You can help us be here for every church – and the people and communities who rely on them.

Church of the Week

Church of the Week

Ewhurst Green, Sussex

Located on the Kent Sussex border path, Ewhurst Green St James the Great is a charming church with an unusual spire. It is thought that the strange shape of the spire, which tapers into a point abruptly, is perhaps the result of a lightening strike and the subsequent spire rebuild to repair the damage. The church is open daily during daylight hours, and walkers (and dogs!) are encouraged to come inside and use the recently opened tea facilities.
