The church has Victorian origins but the chancel contains dramatic murals from the 1960s depicting the crucified and enthroned Christ flanked by angels.

It is likely that the earliest church on this site was a Welsh church, dedicated to St Freit (which is Celtic for St Bridget or Bride, hence its name today).

Built 1886-90 by Nicholson of Hereford on land given by WE Powell of Nanteos, it replaced a church of 1833 by Edward Haycock of Shrewsbury.

A delightful hilltop church believed to be the location where King Oswald (604 -642) raised a large wooden cross before the Battle of Heavenfield (AD 635).

A large (for Herefordshire) 13th century building largely in decorated Gothic style.
