Designed by Paley and Austin and constructed between 1882-1885, this imposing sandstone building occupies a spectacular elevated position behind Dalton Castle and Market Place.

At the annual meeting of the Preston District Congregational Union in 1871, strong representations were made as to the necessity of building a chapel in Grange over Sands with services starting eventually in a room at the Liberal Club 1889, thanks to a grant from the Union.

Grange Methodist Church (1874) is the second oldest church in Grange over Sands, located in the town centre on one of the main shopping streets.

The parish church is an attractive building in a prominent position next to the clock tower in the centre of Grange over Sands.

St Andrew’s church lies on the edge of Wickhampton Marshes, an ideal spot for ramblers and bird watchers, as it gives access to a network of public footpaths.

The beautiful Grade I church we see today, situated by the River Bela, is the result of additions and adaptations through the centuries.

This is a superb example of the work of William Butterfield (1814-1900) who designed almost the whole of the village of Baldersby, under a rich commission from Viscount Downe.

The church is perpendicular in style.
