St Magnus Cathedral known as the Light in the North and founded in 1137 by the Viking, Earl Rognvald, in honour of his uncle St Magnus, dominates Kirkwall on Orkney.

Nestled in the shadow of Dartmoor, in a beautiful wooded valley beside the river Dart, Buckfast Abbey is a working monastery offering visitors a tranquil refuge from the hectic pace of everyday life.

Set at the head of a wooded valley, Laneast church has an almost complete and very well preserved set of medieval benches and bench ends, a well preserved rood screen, and a prayer desk from the beginning of the 16th century.

Davidstow means David's Place and according to legend the church was founded by St David in the 6th century, whilst visiting his mother at nearby Altarnun.
