St Elwyn is located next to the estuary of Hayle near to three miles of golden sand and it has an imposing presence above the town.

There is no record of first consecration but there is documentary evidence that in 1170 Thomas Beckett confirmed income to the Priory of Tywardreath.

The present church was probably built in the early 12th century and houses an important series of late medieval wall paintings executed shortly after the completion of the church in the mid 15th century.

The village church of St Winwaloe is said to be one of the oldest in Cornwall and is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Amid scenic country views, this is an important and early Catholic church which has an impressive external design, an intimate and authentic interior and a unique story from construction in stages from a simple rectangular structure in 1785 to housing the bell which was the first one to ring out in the diocese since penal times ahead of the bell at Armagh Cathedral.

St Hilary church, with its historic links to St Michael’s Mount, has a rich and celebrated history from prehistoric times to the present day.

A church that in splendid isolation in a coastal setting, it can be seen for miles in every direction, with a fascinating mediaeval history, including a mysterious legend.

When the tide is favourable you can easily cross The Strand to Oronsay and walk the two and a half miles to the farm and Priory.

St Wynwallow is tucked away on a lane heading down to Church Cove. It is a haven of peace and quiet for visitors who come in for a chance to cool down in the summer or shelter from the elements in the winter.

Duror Kirk is one of the first Telford Parliamentary churches, built in 1927.

Marazion church, across the bay from St Michael’s Mount, is perhaps best renowned for the hymn writer Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847) who wrote ‘Praise my soul, the king of heaven’ and ‘Abide with me’.

Built in 1895 this chapel is a fine example of provincial, gothic style with fine stained glass windows throughout.
