St Peters is a classic ancient parish church, which was very sensitively restored in the late19th Century by the Southcomb family, rectors here for 275 years. The centuries-long 'battle' between Rector and local landowners in the 'big house next to the green' shaped much of the history of this place.

The church has a wonderful atmosphere and many visitors comment on the exquisite setting at the western end of the village green, an unspoilt place that has been listed as it, and the surrounding buildings, are considered highly unusual in this day and age.

The church has been well maintained, and buiildings experts have often commented on the immediate impression that it is a much loved place.
