Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire
All Saints was consecrated in 1352 and underwent extensive Victorian restoration in 1875-9.
The site of a church from Saxon times evidence of the 12th century church remains as part of the chancel. The west tower is circa 1400.
Inside the church is an interesting painted Clog Almanac on the chancel ceiling and painted roof supports in the south and north aisle. The chancel contains monuments and memorials to the Wendy family, extensive landowners in Tudor times. One, Sir Thomas Wendy was physician to Elizabeth I and other Tudor monarchs. He lived in the Manor House in the centre of the village. It is recorded that Elizabeth visited the Manor.
Many windows contain medieval glass and there are two fine stained glass windows in the chancel dated 1875. A stained glass window in memory of Bishop Charles Frederick Mackenzie, is on the east wall of the south aisle. Installed in 1869 it commemorates his missionary work in Magomero. The church maintains links with Magomero today.
