Opening times

Chichester Cathedral is open Monday to Saturday (9am to 5pm) and Sunday (12.30pm to 2.30pm).
Entry to the Cathedral is free, donations are welcome.

The magnificent 940 year old Chichester Cathedral is a living church with a spire that dominates the horizon for miles around.

Step into iconic moments of English history: the Roman market city of Chichester; King Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries (1530s); the Civil War and siege of Chichester (1642) and much more.

At Chichester Cathedral medieval stone carvings sit alongside world famous contemporary works of art from the likes of Graham Sutherland, Marc Chagall and Ursula Benker-Schirmer - to name but a few. There’s something for everyone to discover!

The Cloisters Kitchen & Garden is a new dining experience within the Cathedral’s 600 year old Cloisters. Enjoy delicious, freshly handmade seasonal menu and locally roasted coffee.

  • TOURS Delivered by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable Guides, our Tours encompass all aspects of the Cathedral including its history, art and architecture.  Tours take place Monday to Saturday, 11.30am and 2.30pm. Spaces cost £5.00 per person. Tours for large groups (over 6 people) are asked to book in advance.

  • SERVICES The Cathedral is a living place of worship, and hosts a schedule of services that all are welcome to attend. Choral Evensong is at 5.30pm during term-time. The service is sung by the Cathedral’s world-renowned Choir and takes place in the historic Quire, with the wooden stalls dating back to the 1330s.

  • EVENTS The Cathedral also hosts a vibrant programme of music, art and events, as well as activities for children and families. See their website for further details.

  • GROUPS Groups of any size are invited to explore the Cathedral. Groups of 6 or over are asked to pre-book so that we can make sure the Cathedral is available for your visit, whether that be self-guided or with one of our expert Guides.
