Chiddingly church is a landmark building within a Conservation Area and dates from the late 11th or early 12th century.

The chancel arch is said to be 13th century, the north and south aisles appear to date from 1250/1300. The chancel was rebuilt in 1864. The west tower is 15th century and together with the spire measures 130 feet. The tower with a stone spire is one of three remaining in Sussex.

A fine feature of the church is the Jefferay Monument a marble and stone memorial to Sir John Jefferay who died in May 1578 and who was the Chief Baron of the Exchequer under Elizabeth I.
