Caldey Island has had a Christian community since the 6th century, making it one of the earliest Christian sites in Britain.

A beautifully proportioned cruciform church, St Peter’s has been serving the parish of Stanton Lacy since the early 11th century.

A perfect example of a neo Gothic Victorian church and its parochial buildings designed by George Edmund Street in a unique collegiate style surrounding a peaceful enclosed quadrangle.

The remarkable feature of this church is the series of 14th century wall paintings which were discovered almost a century ago by Professor Ernest Tristram, the authority on such works and a professor at the Royal College of Art.
