There has been a chapel on this site since 1835.

Much of this church was built during the 13th and 14th centuries; the tower was built in at least two distinct phases, with construction interrupted by the Black Death.

The west entry through the tower porch into its splendid Georgian nave is an architectural surprise and constant attraction to visitors.
