Holy Trinity was consecrated in 1960 replacing the old medieval building in the city centre on Watergate Street, which became the Guild Hall.

A magnificent medieval church boasting carved angels and tie beam roof; Olaudah Equiano, former slave and prominent abolitionist got married here in 1792.

The body of this beautiful little chapel is Saxon and fairly early Norman, though the round Saxon apse was destroyed in the early 19th century.

The church was first dedicated to St Faith in 1108-14 and although it appears to be largely early 19th century Gothic Revival it is largely of medieval origin with possibly even earlier fabric incorporated.
