This is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain and stands over the place where Alban, Britains first saint, was buried after giving his life for his faith over 1700 years ago.

There is evidence that a timber built nave existed in the 13th century.

The church was built as a mission church for the small community of New Leake, but has now replaced the churches of Midville and Eastville and serves those villages as well.
