A wonderful Welsh church with a 6th century foundation, and there the village (famed across Wales for its sheltered beach and tasty fish and chips) grew up around the church.

Built in 1868, St Mark’s church, the ‘Potters Cathedral’, is a significant local landmark and the home of unique artworks created by artisan potters and craftsmen.

The church sits close to Kirtling Towers, a large Tudor gatehouse and the most substantial remaining part of a castle and great house that was the seat of the North family.

Close to Wollaton Hall and provides a welcoming place for worship and as well as a range of community activities for people in the area.

This modern brick church is the post war successor to St John’s, which was destroyed by enemy fire on 8th May 1941; the altar cross which was made into a processional cross for the new church.

This huge 19th century chapel was once the most popular place of worship in what was to become the city of Stoke on Trent, a federation of the six towns of the Potteries.

The largest medieval building in the city known locally as St Mary in the Lace Market.
