The church was built in 1843 by Sydney Smirke and enlarged 1860.

St Peter’s once was one of the richest livings in the country, thanks to Tithe income, endowments and mineral royalty payments.

‘Few churches in South Yorkshire contain more that may delay and interest the curious inquirer than this country chapel’. so the great historian Joseph Hunter wrote in 1831.

Situated a stone's throw away from the heart of Sheffield, we are a Victorian church displaying various items from the Arts & Crafts era, such as fine copperware and reredos.

Quaker meetings are known to have been taking place in Sheffield since 1669.
