The church was built as a Congregational Church on the initiative of a local resident, Benjamin Scott, Chamberlain of the City of London, in 1864-5.

A lovely church in a remote setting.

St John the Baptist was built in 1914 as a Mission church so that parishioners could avoid the walk into Ringwood and was given the status of chapel of ease.

There has been a church on the site for about 1000 years.

Although The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) built a Meeting House in Darlington in 1678 (when they bought the plot for ’35), the present structure was not completed until about 1846.

The patron of the parish church of St Peter & St Paul is the Dean of King’s college, Cambridge.

Dating from the 11th century, St Mary's has an interesting collection of stained glass, well worthy of a visit.

With its cathedral like in proportions and presence, St Cuthbert's epitomises late 12th to early 13th century Early English style, with extensive use of wall arcading to frame both internal and external windows.
