A unique church with its roots in Anglo Saxon times, packed with history, norman and early english architectural delights and is the focal point of our beautiful village of Bicker.

Medieval church in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, our church stands in isolation from the village and has stood here for over 700 years.

The church was built by the 2nd Viscount Halifax, keen to inspire the local community and encourage their spiritual wellbeing.

This delightful church is dedicated to St Alkmund, a prince of the Royal house of the Kingdom of Northumbria, born in about 770.

This tiny chapel may well have been built as a chantry chapel in memory of Robert de Tattershall who died in 1212 and whose effigy it is thought to be, lies beside the altar.

A 13th century church, home to many outstanding features including an 18th century singers gallery, a listed pipe organ and 14th century stone effigies of the Astley family, considered to be some of the finest of their kind in the region. 

The medieval church has a fine west tower around 1500.

Standing on a mound in the centre of the village our church is an unknown gem, here are intriguing masons marks, a 1498 incised slab, a 1595 brass and a medieval altar stone.

The tower is well buttressed and unusually decorated , the first is accounted for by the susceptibility of the earth to subside on account of the Romans extracting iron stone from the vicinity.

Welcome to this ancient parish church, extensively renovated and adorned by 2nd Viscount Halifax, who is buried here. The interior is by Bodley, and has many interesting features.
