The parish church is an attractive building in a prominent position next to the clock tower in the centre of Grange over Sands.

The beautiful Norman church sits above the River Lune with commanding views from the churchyard.

Believed to be the oldest Methodist chapel in the world in continuous use, whose history is inextricably linked with the rise and decline of lead mining in Teesdale.

At the annual meeting of the Preston District Congregational Union in 1871, strong representations were made as to the necessity of building a chapel in Grange over Sands with services starting eventually in a room at the Liberal Club 1889, thanks to a grant from the Union.

Our traditional Westmorland church is a Grade I listed building which dates from the 12th century.

St Mark's offers breathtaking views over the remote West Allen valley and a fascinating local history and is on the Isaac Tea Trail North Pennines Heritage Walk.
