A 12th century church built during the reigns of King Henry II, Richard I, John and Henry III.

A Christian presence here for a thousand years.

Norbury's church is tucked down a lane near to Norbury Manor (a National Trust property), dating from early 14th century.

St Mark is the last to survive of the three ‘Million’ or Church Commissioner’s churches built in Leeds.

Nestled in the countryside, there is, sadly, no historical truth in the legend that the two churches of Antingham in one churchyard were built by two sisters. The pretty church of St Mary and the atmospheric ivy clad ruin of St Margaret.

A hermitage or small monastic settlement may have existed at Nun Monkton during the Anglian period in Northumbria, prior to the arrival of the Vikings, giving rise to the 'Monkton' part of the village's name.

St Mary's is a grand church, reflecting a time when Burwell was an inland port.

There seem to have been chapels of the Knights Templars and Hospitallers in Wetherby but these would be distinct from a parochial chapel for the use of the ordinary laity.

This church was built by the villagers on land donated by villagers and the vicars were employed by the villagers until 1900 when it was transferred to the Diocese of Lichfield.
