St Oswald's is essentially a 12th century church that was extensively rebuilt and restored in Victorian times but still has the chancel arch and font remaining from the original Norman church.

A grade II listed Victorian mission church built in 1846 with the vestry added in 1895, it was badly damaged by an earthquake in 2008 and story of the rebuild is told in photographs in the church.

Built during the early 13th century, St Peter’s is a Grade I listed building described by Sir John Betjeman and John Piper in the 1965 Shell guide to Lincolnshire as one of the finest pure Early English churches in the country.

This church was built by the villagers on land donated by villagers and the vicars were employed by the villagers until 1900 when it was transferred to the Diocese of Lichfield.

The outstanding feature of the church is the stunning murals in the chancel painted in 1904-5 by the Edinburgh artist Phoebe Anna Traquair.

In the pleasant grounds of Ilam Hall stands a church with an ancient secret: the tomb of a hermit and king with a tragic story, St Betram.

People have been worshipping in this wonderfully preserved church for 900 and on a site chosen by the Breton missionaries, Mael and Sulien, who came here in the 6th century as Christian missionaries.

The church dates from the 13th century but little is known about its early history, it underwent a massive restoration 1784 after its original spire fell down.
