This 18th century church has retained many outstanding features including a three tier pulpit; Nicholas Pevsner described it as 'Of the churches of the Early Gothic Revival this is one of the most remarkable in England'.
Kings Norton, Leicestershire
The church was built between 1757 and 1775 by John Wing the Younger, of Leicester, for William Fortrey, the squire of King's Norton.
Originally the church had a spire that was destroyed by lightning in 1850. Although the spire was not rebuilt, the church has retained many outstanding features including a three tier pulpit.
Nicholas Pevsner described it as 'Of the churches of the Early Gothic Revival this is one of the most remarkable in England... The whole and especially the tower show a seriousness of purpose not surpassed before 1800... The interior is wonderfully complete and unchanged'.
