The church was opened in 1914, designed by the prominent architect McGregor Chalmers. A striking sandstone building which sits prominently at an apex junction surrounded by period houses. Adjacent to the church is the Duchess of Hamilton Park which gives the location an idyllic setting.

The sanctuary is set out in the shape of a cross with stained glass windows set at the rear of the chancel. The excellent acoustics of the building allow the Allen Renaissance Quantum Digital Organ to be played to its fullest potential every service.

There is also a war memorial situated with the sanctuary which holds the names of all the church members who lost their lives during the first and second world wars. As it is held in such high regard by the congregation as a show of respect for the fallen it has been restored in recent times.
