Newport, Pembrokeshire
Two buildings dominate the Newport landscape: Newport Castle and St Mary's church. They are best viewed from the Nevern estuary.
Originally a Norman church, the building underwent extensive alterations in Victorian times. It comprises a chancel, nave, two transepts and a tower room. The church is spacious and lofty, witha fine view from the tower. The large, straggling churchyard contains the graves of over a hundred master mariners. It is popular with tourists, many of whom join for Sunday worship.
Well worth a visit.
