Rawtenstall, Lancashire
An 18th century Quaker Meeting House within a walled garden.
Rossendale, Lancashire
The Meeting House has a cottage attached with an old stable underneath, situated in a quiet corner of the village, near the river called Limey Water. It is one of the oldest Meeting Houses in the United Kingdom and offers a peaceful space for Quaker silent worship.
Open every Sunday morning except the last Sunday in June for Meeting for Worship followed by refreshments and conversation. We have a beautiful peace garden with two benches which is available to the public for quiet contemplation. The Meeting room has original oak panels and an old oak table in front of the clerk's bench. Steps lead up to the gallery library above the original small Meeting room which has a low ceiling with beams.
