On the site of a Norman church, Shrewton St Mary has masonry evidence of late 12th century to early 13th century nave arcade bay and chancel masonry. The ashlar tower dates to the 16th century. A restoration in 1855 by TH Wyatt integrated these features resulting in the current form of the church with chancel, nave (with aisles on either side), a tower and north porch. The external walls are predominantly flint and ashlar chequers, with pitched slate roofs. The ashlar tower has a lead shallow pitched roof.
