All Saints
Monkland, Herefordshire
Dating from circa 1100, and beautifully restored in the 19th century All Saints church holds many reminders of the remarkable Victorian hymn writer Reverend Sir Henry Williams Baker.
A church as broad as it is long.
Stretford, Herefordshire
Sitting next to a farmyard, this unusual and interesting church is almost as broad as it is long, and its dedication is to the patron saints of physicians and surgeons.
The roof was constructed in about 1540; two massive early 16th century timber screens go right across the church and there is a Jacobean pulpit in the middle.
The two 14th century stone effigies are probably members of the Delabere family who lived locally.
This church is also part of our Five Churches Trail, which takes you on a wonderful journey around the rural heartland of Herefordshire.
