Llanelidan, Denbighshire
A church set within a circular Llan marked by yew trees, suggesting ancient origins, the current building dates back to 1254 and lies within a quiet lost valley. Built of local limestone in the classic Vale of Clwyd twin nave style, the building has a medieval porch, restored by Clough Williams-Ellis, and a vestry designed by William Douglas.
Within the church are fragments of medieval glass, late medieval wood carving and a 14th century stone font. There are several highly regarded marble memorials to the Kendrick, Thelwall and Naylor Leyland families, of Nant Clwyd Hall. In the graveyard is the costly chest tomb with a curious verse commemorating a stranger and the grave of the infamous Coch Bach y Bala.
