Set in a peaceful rural location next to an ancient motte and bailey, the church is in the conservation area of this small village situated in the north west of Herefordshire.
St James is a 12th century church with interesting saddle back tower and Internal décor by famous church architect of the Victorian era George Frederick Bodley.
Kinnersley, Herefordshire
A spacious church with painted decoration in nave and chancel and some fine monuments. The main exterior feature is the imposing north west tower with the interior significantly restored by the rector, Reverend Andrews in 1867.
The church also has a wealth of memorials and monuments including a 15th century brass memorial to a former rector, William Leviot and a Jacobean chancel monument to Francis Smallman who had been the lord of the manor at Kinnersley when he died in 1633.
Outside in the churchyard can be found the grave of George Frederick Bodley and his wife Minna Reavely, whose family owned the nearby Kinnersley Castle.
