On the outside are obvious clues to its origins: two Norman doorways, the north one with good zigzag decoration. Inside, the 12th century and later 15th century work is almost entirely disguised by 18th century decor and fittings.

There is a fine west gallery, donated by a London ironmonger, an 18th century font, and many 18th and 19th century memorials.

In 1951 repairs uncovered parts of a medieval wall painting of St Christopher; his bearded face is beautifully painted. And from the 17th century are panels of exquisite Swiss stained glass.
