St James the Greater Church
Eastbury, Berkshire
Lambourn's large and imposing church dates from about 1180, although there may well have been a church here since at least the time of King Alfred.

In St Katherine's Chapel is a mid 16th century tomb of Sir Thomas Essex and his wife; their effigies are accompanied by a dolphin and a winged horse.
German stained glass from the 16th century can also be seen here. In Holy Trinity Chapel is the tomb of John Estbury, who died in 1508. Very unusually, the brass on the tomb top retains some of its original coloured enamel.
Also in Holy Trinity Chapel is an arch with hunting scenes carved on it. Memorials elsewhere in the church include a number to members of the Garrard family, spanning over 400 years.
