Llanfihangel Din Sylwy is a very small 15th century church in a very rural location just off the east coast of Anglesey.
Llanfihangel Din Sylwy, Anglesey
It retains a great deal of its medieval architecture and character, which is likely to reflect the Victorian romantic and melodramatic sensibility.
Like Llanfihangel Din Sylwy, most of Anglesey’s ancient churches date back to the 5th century. The church was first mentioned in the Norwich Taxation of 1254, however the present church dates from the early 15th century. The structure was rebuilt in 1855. The oldest part of the current structure is the chancel arch, which dates from the 15th century. The framed windows in the southern wall below the chancel also date from the 15th century.
