St Laurence
Shotteswell, Warwickshire
The earliest part of St Michael's is the 12th century nave.
Warmington, Warwickshire
The church was subsequently enlarged with the additions of the north and south aisles towards the end of the 12th century, and enlarged again with much rebuilding during the 13th century.
In the middle of the 13th century a chapel was built with a priest's chamber above it; it still has its fireplace and remains of its garderobe, or latrine.
The church is very close to the site of the Civil War battle of Edgehill and it is thought that many of those who died that day are buried here. There is a rare tombstone of the time in the churchyard, to a Royalist called Captain Gourdin.
