All Saints
Kimcote, Leicestershire
An early English building (c1160) with naval and military memorials, including a VC.
North Kilworth, Leicestershire
Constructed by Robert Rabaz the building has a long association with the Leicester Belgrave family. The pulpit is reputedly a rebuild from maritime oak of Armada origin. Victorian improvements commenced in 1856 with additions of acanthus decorations, north porch and spire. The north aisle is largely unspoilt early Norman.
There are memorials commemorating WWWI flying ace with 18 planes downed. Also records of a VC awarded at Battle of Omdurman. We have naval associations via Man Dobson who served under Nelson in the White Squadron under Parker. His son responsible for pacification of dacoits and opening up Irrawaddy.
The Holdich organ was installed in 1859, probably built in Soho, London. We have four bells, the earliest with an impress of 1600 era Portuguese coin (John V).
The church contains windows by Hardman and Holland 1860-1880. The unusual chancel window has a horizontal low mullion, possibly for sacrament to infectious parishioners.
There is evidence of Iron age moated settlement on site. Ours is an interesting village on upper Avon spring line and large adjacent Millennium Green.

Stanford on Avon, Northamptonshire
This particularly fine church was built during the first half of the 14th century and there have been few alterations since then, it gives a very good impression of English gothic architecture just before the advent of The Black Death.
