From the grand steps leading up to the main entrance, to the flying buttresses along the nave, to the magnificent crown steeple, the attention to detail by architect Hippolyte Blanc is in evidence at every turn.

It was built as a memorial to Thomas Coats, a member of the highly regarded Paisley thread family, and was opened in 1894.

The church is of a cruciform design and, with a capacity to seat 1,000 people, is almost cathedral like in its proportions. No wonder then that it was seen fit to install a wonderful pipe organ built by William Hill with 3,040 pipes.

Further fine detailing can be seen in the various mosaics, stencilled decoration, carved marble and alabaster inside this incredible Scottish church.
