Enjoying a prominent location on the main thoroughfare through the Trecynon village, the relatively typical plain valleys chapel exterior belies its interior features. Built in 1862 and rebuilt some 30 years later, an elaborate ornate fibrous plaster ceiling was installed in the 1930s.

The intricately carved pulpit and the plasterwork floor to ceiling reredos behind it is an impressive reminder of the passion behind Welsh non-conformity, containing the bold gold lettering in Welsh - 'Holiness Befits Your House, O Lord, for Ever'. As a result of these features, the chapel attracted a Grade II listing from the Welsh Heritage body (now Cadw) in the 1980s.

The deterioration of the ceiling in recent years prompted a re-roofing project in 2012, and plans for ceiling restoration and structural securing in 2017. With the substantial help of a National Churches Trust grant in 2023, work began shortly afterwards. The active congregation has a sense of calling to serve the local community and families in particular.
