The entrance was built as the facade of a concert hall which was demolished to make way for the bus station behind it. The remaining building is Grade II listed and was built in 1906 and designed by Bolton architects Bradshaw & Gass in the Edwardian boroque style.
Since its foundation in the early 1900`s, the church has pursued the twin priorities of mission/ Evangelism and social action. It is still following these goals.
The Brick is a Queen`s Hall initiated outreach to people who are homeless and in poverty. It is now a huge charity encompassing: accommodation for different needs, a Food Community, shops, training, support & advice, serving the whole of the Wigan and Leigh area. Its headquarters is operated from our sister venue at St George`s Church, Water Street, Wigan. For many years Queen`s Hall has welcomed asylum seekers and helped them in different ways. Some have even become stewards of the church. There are many opportunities to grow through volunteering. For a number of people, this is therapy.
