Built as a plain preaching box in an elegant Gothic style by H and HW Inwood between 1824 and 1827, the apse was added by Ewan Christian in 1888. It has a central tower, prominent pinnacles and a row of twelve windows along the north elevation. Internally, the space is articulated by elegant cast iron columns, supporting Gothic style arches. The ceiling contains the associated rib vaulting. The calvary has been recently restored.
