Edwardstone, Suffolk
Beautiful medieval church sitting in open Suffolk countryside on the brow of a hill and overlooking the Box Valley, birthplace of John Winthrop, Pilgrim Father and First Governor of Massachusetts.
This church is beautifully kept and in remarkable order. Shows signs of tremendous symbolism from medieval frescos of Angels sensing the font with incense to the most beautiful reredos of the crucifixion. It is also a beautiful place to sit on a sunny day at the foot of the 6ft Celtic Cross in the graveyard and look out over the valley fields and wildlife. Wonderful footpath walks connecting the other churches in the Winthrop trail.
