During the 1950s and 1960s the Catholic population expanded, creating a need for new churches.
The church of All Saints is Grade I Listed, built between the 13th and 14th centuries by the monks of St Albans Abbey on the site of an earlier Anglo-Saxon mentioned in Doomsday Book.
