In 1848 Captain Vernon Harcourt, who had married Anne the widow of William Danby of Swinton Castle, determined to build a church for his Estate workers in Healey. Edward Buckton Lamb was the chosen architect and his Gothic Revival church was much admired by Pevsner, particularly for the crossing (the central tower). It sits on the side of the hill on the road through Healey with lovely views over the surrounding countryside.
