Thornthwaite is the 'mother church' of the parish, there having been a church here since perhaps AD 1409. It stands above the pack horse bridge on the monks’ route, halfway between Fountains and Bolton abbeys.

The delightful building now in place has served this local community since AD 1810, and currently provides for our regular Sunday morning congregations of 12 to 20 people.

The church is available each day for your own private prayer and worship and we strongly encourage you to visit this quiet, simple little gem in the heart of the Dale. You will be very welcome in our worship or in your own time and prayer.
