The first church of All Saints was consecrated by the Archbishop of York in 1900.
The first Roman Catholic priest appointed in Denaby Main was Father Kavanagh in 1894. Services took place in a disused schoolroom near the railway.

Mr Andrew Montague gave land for a permanent church to be built which was completed in June 1898. The occasion was marked by a luncheon held in Rossington Street School, attended by many local dignitaries who had contributed to the building costs of St Albans.
The Convent of Mercy was opened in 1927 as a branch of the House of Clifford which has its headquarters at Cantley.
The church is grade II listed and there are many interesting things to see inside!
