This church was built in 1842 on land donated by the Mills family to provide tenants of the Bisterne Estate with a local place of worship to avoid the lengthy walk into Ringwood. This is a much loved building and the interior, which contains most of the original features, reflects the care with which it has been maintained.
The church is much valued by the Mills family and the people of this small village. It is a focal point for events such as the Nine Lessons and carols when the church is filled, as well as concerts, clay pigeon shoots and garden tours of the Manor’s beautiful and extensive gardens. The Bisterne Talks have welcomed several well known speakers to the church. events for our children and families make great use of St Paul’s and the facilities at Bisterne, such as harvest walks and teas, and sleeping out in a barn. We take part in the Bisterne Scarecrow Festival each summer, which last year saw several large mice, including a bride and groom, taking up residence in the churchyard.
