Situated above the River Till on the southern edge of Salisbury plain.
The old parish church for Bramcote was a small chapel which had stood since at least 1246.

By 1859 the population was outgrowing the old chapel and a decision was taken to build a new church. It was designed by the London architect John Johnson and consecrated on 12 December 1861.
The new church was built in the Decorated style and the old one demolished apart from the tower. The font was trasnferred as well as the bells and several memorial stones. Sonce 1861 the building has been extended twice. The tower of the old church still stands.

The church was commissioned in 1953 by Major General Sir GAN Swiney, KBE, CB, MC, who was Commander of Chilwell Ordinance Depot at the time.
