St Giles
Cheddington, Bedfordshire
A rural church in a peaceful location with a public footpath running alongside the churchyard.
Our church was built in the 1200s and is a friendly local village church close to the Chilterns and the Grand Union Canal.
Slapton, Buckinghamshire
The church was built initially in the 1200s. The first vicar was installed in 1223 and we have a plaque with the names of all the vicars since then. The church is Grade II* listed.
The main part of the church (nave, tower and side aisles) is built in stone with timber and lead covered roof (with alarm). The chancel was added later in the 1800s and is built in brick with a slate roof. It has a stone tower with 5 bells which are the subject of a current restoration project. The east window is stained glass.
The large churchyard is 'upkept' by four sheep with help from churchwardens, so visitors must keep the gate shut.

Essentially, St Mary's is a building of the 13th century, though the tower and the great arches supporting it are 14th century, inserted into the earlier building.
