Beautiful gem of architecture.
Mountnorris, County Armagh
Tullyherron has been a focus for Catholic worship in this part of Armagh for over two centuries. It was around 1813 that a barn was provided as a place of worship by a local farming family. Parts of that barn survive in the fabric of the present building. On 30 May 1869 the church was dedicated to St Teresa of Ávila.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our church and that you will tell others to stop here to find out more about the fascinating history of this building and those who have worshipped here. St Teresa’s Church is firmly in the tradition of Catholic places of worship in rural Ireland. It stands as testimony to the dedication and commitment of the clergy and congregation to their place of worship over two centuries.
Originally a long hall, the addition of the sanctuary and transepts has turned it into a T-shaped building. The church is a Grade B Listed Building on account of its ‘architectural and historical interest’. Of particular importance are the buttresses supporting the side walls.
