The oldest part of the present building dates from 1246 but there has been a church here since the sixth century. Llanbadarn was a great centre of learning in early medieval Wales, the home of scholars like Sulien and Rhigyfarch.

Inside, the church is full of light, with stained glass by Seddon, Morris and many others. There are some impressive wall monuments in the chancel, and a peal of ten bells.
