Orchardhill was built by the architect Henry Clifford in Giffnock Quarry StoneThe building was debt free within three years and had a fine pipe organ installed courtesy of Andrew Carnegie. The wood panelling is from 1900-35.
During the first world war the congregation lost twenty three men. The town of Giffnock grew in popularity with new roads and avenues and the congregation grew accordingly. During world war two some of the premises of the church were commandeered due to black outs, shortages. Sixteen young servicemen died in a local bombing.
