The landmark St John's church complete with bellcote to the west end was built from knapped flint with stone dressings in 1852 and retains many of the original features of the Early English style.

The lychgate is framed with decades old Yew trees, and the gravel path leads to a gabled porch. A stone octagonal font is to the right of the main door; the pulpit has Salviati mosaic panels and the organ has ornate decorated pipes.

The Victorian Society have stated that the building is a 'Victorian Gem'. There are three Commonwealth Graves in the churchyard, which is lovingly cared for by a dedicated band of parishioners.
